I've produced and sold paracord goods before and what happens is that to turn it into a business you are competing with very cheap labor. Unfortunately my time is worth more than what I would be able to make selling paracord tied items so I only do it for fun as I would need to outsource the tying to be profitable.
With the minimum wage going up in the US, these things are best tied by cheap labor because it's a highly competitive market.
I like the flexibility in colors/style/ball bearings that tying them myself offers, but again it is time consuming and one of the knots I tie is a
monkey fist (still for sale!) which takes an exceptional amount of time for tightening.
Another idea would be to build a machine that can tie your easiest knots that take the most time. I've used jigs to speed things up but I always felt a "smart tying machine" was just around the corner and waiting for someone to build it. Obviously the machine would most likely be suited for only one task/type of knot, but that's for the engineer to figure out.
