The Google domain was registered on September 15, 1997 and Google was incorporated on September 4, 1998. Both seem like more natural fits for a birthday. So why is Google going with September 27, a date that doesn't seem to be tied to any significant moment in the company's history?

Quite simply: It's because they said so.

When you're as powerful as Google — or the Queen of England [sic] — you can celebrate your birthday any day you want.
