Hello Everybody,

All over Bitcoin, there is frustration now that the network is running at capacity and there is seemingly a permanent backlog of unconfirmed transactions.

How to deal with it ?

Both MultiBit Classic (0.5.19) and MultiBit HD have a fee slider in Preferences so that you can increase your fee rate.

If you are using an old version of MultiBit Classic:
+ Upgrade to 0.5.19 and save yourself a lot of bother. The old versions of MultiBit Classic attach a far too low fee. Upgrade.
+ Consider upgrading to MultiBit HD - https://multibit.org/en/help/hd0.1/how-to-upgrade-from-classic.html

More useful resources:

+ In MultiBit HD you can see the fee rate on your sends by double clicking on the transaction in Payments.
+ https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin has a good presentation of the current state of the network.
+ You can see what fee you need here: https://bitcoinfees.21.co

Until the block size increases transactions with with too low fees are just not going to confirm like they used to. Miners are only going to include transactions with the highest fees into their blocks.

MultiBit HD   Lightweight desktop client.                    Bitcoin Solutions Ltd   Bespoke software. Consultancy.

Thanks for this.

Are there any plans to have Multibit query the bitcoin network automatically? Similar to how Bitcoin Core has `estimatefee` and Electrum can query an Electrum server to get `estimatefee` information.
