Will virtual credit cards work in the same capacity as real ones on most sites? Is it possible to get them anonymously without resorting to using those polish bank account services?

I have not tried to use vccs with apmex, but here are a few things to keep in mind when using vccs...

Many US merchants use AVS and will refuse foreign cards.

Most Visa gift cards issued in the US have some support for AVS, where you register your address on their web site. Vanilla Visa only lets you register a zip code. That will get you past most AVS checks but there are a handful of ecommerce sites that are really picky and require the street address too. Some other cards, eg simon malls and gift2go let you register a street address.

Most American Express gift cards do not support AVS.  Paypal won't accept those.

If you buy vccs online, check the first 6 digits (BIN) to see if it matches the bank that is known to issue that card. This would have saved me from getting ripped off by someone who sold me stolen credit card numbers.

Many cards issued in the US do not work internationally.  If you're buying from outside the US, you do want the Polish bank card.
