I am really much interested in creating my own vanity address. What is the requirement of making one? Do we need a special hardware to make one?

you can use vanitygen, an open source tool that can be found on github.
oclvanitygen uses your gpu and is faster (same github page, included in the binary downloads)

To know the command line arguments, just run vanitygen.exe from the console, and the full optionlist will be shown

Basically you could use your CPU and GPU into generating one of these nice addresses. The stronger your hardware is the faster it could generate the intended address. Also there are some users here that do these for some money.
