Mihaly "Michu" Meszaros (Hungarian: Mészáros Mihály; October 1, 1939 – June 13, 2016) was a Hungarian born performer/entertainer, who as an American-citizen was best remembered as a performer with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and the man behind the costume in the NBC sitcom ALF. He was 2 feet 9 inches (84 cm) tall.

Actually part of Alf is dead.  The Alf character was voiced by another actor, Paul Fusco.  (and he is still alive... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Fusco)
