dear theymos, dear badbear, dear ladies and gentlemen,

simple question,

are trust ratings such as Lies about being on social assistance and Admits to downloading child porn valid reasons for destroying someone's account w/ negative trust?

you can get red trust for much less, but seriously this is hard core the first reason. As i know, the forum staff don't care. 'Community Police' does.

I had just noticed the aforementioned ratings on an account of another long time user -

IF what u say is true it would mean that the trust system is basically subject to personal feelings and thus used to a great degree for personal agendas? IF so, that trust system would be corrupt and worthless.

Would you trust someone who admitted to downloading child porn? I sure wouldn't.

I wouldn't but
1. I don't know if that particular statement was sarcasm or not
2. I don't know why the person said that
3. I have never traded with the person
4. That person could still be very trustworthy when it comes to actual trading

IF I leave red trust based on my negative feelings towards that statement/user, I'd have to tag everyone red here all day long cause I wouldn't trust most people based on some of the things they say.

Feel free to do that then. You're allowed to leave a trust rating for any reason at all and no one can stop you. If you disagree with an individual's ratings, exclude them from your trust list. If you think Vod's ratings shouldn't be under DT, take it up with dooglus (he is on his trust list) or get another member from level 1 to exclude him from their list (HostFat already does). There is nothing else you can do.

By the way, if DT members only left ratings on people they had directly traded with, most scammers wouldn't show up red. I hope you see why this would be a bad thing.

I'd never do that cause I would not want a corrupt trust system that is merely based on personal feelings.

That's not true

- Do not rate people based on the quality of their posts.

Trust ratings are not moderated in any way, that post by theymos is merely a list of guidelines for how the system should be used. There is nothing actually preventing someone from leaving feedback for no reason at all.

Trust system isn't moderated and you can see

Quote
Untrusted feedback
These ratings are from people who are not in your trust network. They may be totally inaccurate.

No one really care about trusts like that (I got 1 Smiley) unless:
1. It is from a Default Trust member or a member on your trust network or
2. There is a valid evidence supporting it (Reference)

I think vod made the rating about someone downloading child porn, the guy only said he was torrenting IIRC, no, negatives are for people who scam or if you think someone is a scammer, petty stuff like that go under neutral. Then ofcourse, no-one is gonna challenge vod

Trust isn't moderated I'd guess. Basically, asking Valid reasons for negative trust isn't a smart question. Anyone can give you any ratings if they want to. Henceforth, I'd like to conclude that dont mind any ratings unless they 've a reference.

The trust is the far-west. Do what you assume good and don't care about the others. That's the strongest's law.
