Started this discussion under marketplace goods but thought this would be a more appropriate place.

Is it acceptable to trade anonymously within the bitcointalk marketplace?
Is it the general consensus that doing so makes you untrustworthy by default?

I was under the impression that Bitcoin has always been hailed for its ability to conduct anonymous transactions and was considered an anonymous digital currency as it is still possible to buy/sell/trade bitcoin without the requirement of  identity proof or address proof.
However there seems to be much consensus on the forum that trust in trading bitcoin is synonymous with knowing the named identity of person you are trading with.

Bitcoin is pseudo anonymous, other altcoins offer truly anonymous transactions, however, taking the correspondent precautions, dealing with Bitcoin can keep you hidden.
People will be scared to trade with someone they don't know/don't have reputation. If you want to safely trade with someone else, consider using an scrow service.

Yup since there is not direct transaction for anyone so it's privacy can be protected so it can have a low profile globally.  It can only be known when you start trading especially with traders who have sites that requires much information other than the e-mail.  Hence there will be not too much confidentiality between traders identity since it is right that to have a trusted trading partner you must know the status and capacity of the other party.
