Hello guys, anyone of you have had an account closed at coinbase because they discovered your transactions were to/from gambling sites?

Also i would like to know if there is some story of confiscating funds, court actions against coinbase users, etc.

thanks !!

Yes lots of users have had their coinbase accounts closed for gambling.

It's unlikely you would face legal trouble from this. The most coinbase can do is close your account. They could also potentially report you to authorities, but that is unlikely as they are not obligated to do that and doing so would only cause them problems too.

It's best to use a real wallet that you solely control like electrum or Bitcoin Core instead of coinbase for this reason and others.

this is nothing new.
there has been many users before this that had their accounts closed because they used the funds to send to gambling sites and gamble with those funds.
you can use google to find all the stories i can't list them here all.

also their TOS clearly has some rule that is stating this. they are not closing accounts out of nowhere, it is the user's fault for not reading it Cheesy

Coinbase is known for monitoring users transactions. If they find out that you are sending Bitcoin to any known address of gambling service your account will be frozen and funds most likely confiscated.
Why people are so oblivious to this fact even though it is clearly stated in their ToS. It is not that Coinbase is evil - it is rather people are being idiots by using their services.

yeah, they will not confiscate any funds unless you have done something illegal like scamming somebody or have stolen funds.

i had a coinbase account one a long time ago and they closed my account because they stopped accepting my country but they send me an email telling me to give them an address to withdraw

Always send to a middle wallet (create a new one if you have too) and then transfer to gambling site once funds are in that wallet. the extra fee is worth it

Here are a couple of links regarding the coinbase closing accounts for being related to gambling sites and illegal activity. They probably have followups on comments.

Why even use coinbase for gambling related transactions, simply use blockchain or lightweight wallets. if you want to sell  coins then send it to coinbase?

Never heard of confiscation. If that did happen I think we'd know about it when customers went insane on reddit and on here. Worst that'll happen is that you're told to go away and take charge of your own coins. That's far from a tragedy.

If the bookies pay your winnings using a different address that was fine they are not able to trace the payment address
but if they pay the same address I'm sure your transaction will be quickly detected some sites that pay victory using the same address is cloudbet, luckybit so be careful bet on the site Coinbase will quickly detect .

Maybe, they don't look at the amounts received just like for drugs, they cannot prove it was you who bought them and had it sent to your address. But sending is probably what they lock down on.

The amount doesn't matter. They have detections to scan all transactions for certain bitcoin addresses and then will probably do a manual review and lock your account.

Well to this question difficult to answer because it only knows the staff Coinbase but in my opinion they will check your transaction if always receive bicoin in bulk they want to know where you're getting bitcoin , if always too often receive and send bitcoin there are only two possibilities gamblers or traders  Cheesy

Why would you still use coinbase if you do know that they are clossing account if they found out that your sending/receiving funds to/from gambling. You shouldnt used it if youre into gambling unless you dont know about it.

It hasn't happened to me yet, but I always send all of the coins that I buy on coinbase directly to my personal wallet.  I think people get in trouble when they are sending directly from their coinbase wallet to a gambling site.  I've seen several posts on here and on reddit where people are complaining about getting their accounts closed/locked because of gambling.  You just have to be careful and keep some distance between your coinbase wallet and any gambling sites.

personally I don't use it cause they don't accept my country , but there were many stories about this cause simply gambling is against the rules in coinbase
but I think that you can avoid this trouble by not betting directly and make it hard for coinbase to chase where you are sending your money
