I would like to obtain a block of data as it's fetched from the net, store it on a file, run some miner code on it, and then verify that I have the correct results.

What is the best way to do this? I saw some posts regarding testnet-in-a-box (or did this turn into the -testnet option?), but would this just get fresh blocks with no expect intermediate/values?

I'm new to bitcoin so my terminology might not be correct...

[EDIT] fixed spelling
