What will be the next big mover on Poloniex? Any thoughts. I heard lots of chatter about Steem  but looking for some other opinions.

I don't know about Poloniex, I don't trade on there anymore but I do think Steem has got a lot of potential to grow. That said I wouldn't necessarily recommend to invest heavily in it right now, I'd give it some time to see how it evolves first. But the cool thing with Steem is that you don't really need to invest real money you can just build up your profile by posting and upvoting. I've already made some dollars on there just by doing that  Smiley

Steem is already on the moon given it's usage, it can't naturally grow anymore. I see it as a wannabe reddit milked by it's whales.

Steem ahs had its run and as of now is out of steam. It was a ponzi anyway and now the early adopters have made their money.  No more to be made buying in now and all we have to look forward to for that coin is endless spam by users hoping to get likes or however it works.

I have no opinion on the short-term price direction, but please note the following user is an ETH pumper:

Yep you got me, im an eth pumper, currently mining with 3 video cards. You don't wanna know how huge my bag is thanks to this.
But youre a known FUDer, using big words to attempt to talk down the prices while speculating.

Ok, I have ETH and was curious about Steem. It seems like there is always a coin or two getting pumped hard then dumped and I wanted to know if someone has the inside scoop (pm me is you do:-)) I guess ETC is an exception but any given day a coin or two go on a tear and then back to earth.

i agree with steem. it looks like it can have a lot of potential although it has already been pumped a bit. but since it has made a lot of noise it can grow a lot more but be careful because there is going to be a lot of dumps too because of the earning on the project.

and ethereum is obviously still being pump and dumped and if you weren't satisfied with the amount of pump and dump in ethereum, don't worry because there is two version of ethereum available to be pump and dumped twice Cheesy

Well everyone in the crypto world is in for profit. So it needs growing potential, either by pumping hype, or backed up by some technological achievement. Ok steemit made a wannabe low quality reddit with low quality content, taking that into consideration they are already on the moon. I don't see it naturally growing much more because getting in is expensive, and the potential profit is too small to worth the risk. It's like getting into bitcoin 2/3 months before or after the halving, you know it's at it's peak,a pump may increase the price but it's most likely goin down. You just don't.
Red apple, its hard for steem to go up much more since they'd need greater fools to buy their coins, so unless it's user base that use the platform as the "next gen reddit" is dramatically increasing to actually attract more investors, it won't increase it's value much more. For outsiders, outside the crypto world, it's just another attempt at social networking, existing ones are not just MUCH better, but they have ALOT of "notoriety", they're brands, they're MUST have.

i do agree steem(coin) is most likely going down but steemit(the platform) is getting better... reddit, twitter or any other social media have low quality content too.. it will need time to reach good bloggers and smart people. right now it it just a bunch of lazy people trying to earn easy money generally with tits.

Yes but steemit is trying to attract new users with the promise they'd use it and get rewarded with money. So people won't be acting as they do on reddit for example, they will try to get some money too right, because they see the first page with 10k $ posts. So let's say it reaches mass adoption, what next ? I'll tell you what would happen, 99% of the first posts would be about boobs / stupid, useles things, and the average iq of these people rewarding posters with likes/votes would be <80. So yeah, i don't believe the content quality can increase. But i do believe a decentralized social network platform is needed.

I had no BTC to speculate with. I do have 7 or 8 BTC now thanks to Steemit.

Here is a summary of Steemit's business model (the part where I replied to other guy):
