How is this particular "scam" one of the biggest and longest serving exchanges in Bitcoin? Whatever their drawbacks, BTC-e.com have outlasted every other exchange out there, and they still have high trading volumes and is therefore still highly relevant in the market.

Put another way: the lack of office, licence, postal address or other credentials doesn't seem to have effected their business much. For over 4 years.

I think it just screams "BTC-e owner/s have vested interests in ETH/Vitalik" instead.

If ethereum has to be usefull for smart contracts, these cannot be reversed everytime someone just legitimately executes a contract with unforseen result the creator do not like.

It proves ethereum is useless now, but ETC seems more appealing should the ethereum be improved and useable for smart contracts in the future - which is a big question itselves.

This is interesting since BTCe always used to say they did not allow trading of pre-mined coins--yet they support ETH.

do not be confused, as long as that ethereum can give us profit, just continue to buy and sell. but when the rate is down too deep, i think it is wise to stop it and make a little stock while watching the market and waiting for the other news from the devs.

Don't get confused.
Ethereum Classic (ETC) is an altcoin. And BTC-e is an exchange who now say they will not allow ETC getting traded on their platform because in their opinion it is a scam.I guess they got drained out of all ETC by replay attack and that's why they are going this way now.

I doubt btc-e owners have vested interests. They are probably millionaires,  and they control a hugely popular market. If they wanted to make more money they would do it in a less obvious way.

According to their statement, people have already been sending their ether (which attached etc) to poloniex and therefore btc-e has no acces to the etc anymore.

Now, people are demanding to get etc for the eth they held during the fork. Likely exactly those people already send their eth to poloniex to benefit from this and now try to get double the etc from btc-e.

I still think this whole deal with eth and etc is a massive mistake and poloniex is partly to blame by empowering the etc movement so fast after the fork.

do not underestimate the greed. also, we are not talking about peanuts(like 30k-50k USD)

BTC-e owners ran HYIPs before BTC-e, when LR was the king of e-currencies. Smiley

I have always supported BTC-E, despite allegations of shadiness or operating in the dark. But this is very, very disappointing and I think they have no excuse here.

I think I need to pull my funds off BTC-E. Never thought I would say that, TBH.
