For the Bitcoin community:

When I first discovered bitcoin I bought a load as soon as possible. Then I wanted to send some to friends and family, as a gift, to help spread the word, and to make sure they would also enjoy some of the long-term growth in bitcoin value that will (hopefully) take place over the next decade or two.

I found it frustrating that there was no decent service available for this. So I had to email each one individually, tell them how to get started with a bitcoin wallet, and then ask them for their receiving address. It took me a lot of time and I just wanted a service that would take care of it for me. I was even willing to pay a little for it. I found Coinapult and tried it, but the process didn't feel good enough and I wanted better tracking.

So eventually I just went and built my own. It's called MailACoin - www.mailacoin.com - and it lets you send bitcoin to any email address quickly and easily. To save time it allows multiple recipients as well. You can track your gifts online and receive email updates, and it automatically refunds you if the gift is not collected after a week.

Would love to hear any feedback from the Bitcoin community about this tool - please email me at contact AT the site name or via the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the home page.

Thanks,

Matt Edwards @ MailACoin
