Is the wallet backup encrypted?

I use Bitcoin qt wallet v6.beta. I have encrypted with a word phrase i cosider safe. But what abot the backup? Is that .dat file also encrypted with the same phrase? And if so, can i keep this at a less safe place, like dropbox. How hard is it to crack a 9 word phrase?

Assuming that the 9 word pass phrase consists of "random words" then you should be fine (if you used a quote from a well known source then maybe not).
