Hey Guys, my PCI-E x16 slots are all used but I have a few X1 slots just chillin.

I noticed here, if this is legit, this dude just simply cut off the excess pins on the card: http://www.invisiblerobot.com/pcie_x1/ which is leading me to think the extra pins are just additional bandwidth etc but not required to function?

I won't be chop sawing my card, but I found this adapter here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-PCI-E-Express-x1-To-x16-Riser-Card-Extender-Flexible-Ribbon-Cable-/281010792760?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416d8c6938 and am wondering what are your guys' thoughts about this?

Would it work? If so, would u think the extra bandwidth is needed for maximum hashing?

With an adaptor any 16x card will work in a 1x slot. The only catch is some motherboards need to have a pin shorted to accept it.

The bandwidth isn't needed. 1x is just as fast for hashing.

You only need to saw off one side of a PCI-E X1 riser cable to fit a X16 GPU slot. With the search option you should find a thread detailing exactly how.
