PCIe mini for mining?

My MB has some PCIe mini slots on it, would it be possible to use a riser and attach a card for mining? I can't find one that goes directly mini to 16x, but I could add a mini to 1x then 1x to 16x... I haven't been able to find much on pcie mini specs to compare to a 1x slot? If this is the case it'd double the number of GPUs I could use for mining on that rig. Of course I'd have to add PSUs as well...
