Additional data possible in any transaction

Reading the wiki page on scripts and the protocol specification today, I was glad to find out,

It's possible to add arbitrary data to any transaction by just adding some data along with OP_DROP.

It could be handy to be able to add a hash when needed.

Interesting, you could embed information which has a timestamp and is signed by all following blocks Don't know what use this is at the moment.

For more information on bitcoin, there is the paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System", http://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf which I try to understand at the moment.
