Does anyone know a good way of converting Bitcoin to UK GBP?  Everyone seems to charge a rather large premium at the moment...

try LocalBitcoins - just used the site and it's great - as a seller you can add a premium and if someone wants to buy from you then you're in luck.

Works with UK Bank Transfer

you can use bitstamp... which doesn't cost much.
