The European Commission supports a lot of things from taxpayers money. However I have yet to hear of a project that delivered true innovation based in EU support. These bureaucrat are anything but able to identify future trends. Real innovation happens without support. Satoshi did not receive support from anyone, in fact his possibly world-changing legacy is considered a threat by many governments.
The European Commission would be well advised to focus on reducing their bureaucratic footprint and stop squandering the money of taxpayers in a never ending effort to restrict freedom. Certainly these guys will enjoy witnessing the outcome of the Italian referendum on Dec. 4th...
