That's why I'm here asking, because I can't find any activity on NMC anywhere. |

Well, if I must speculate, I'd guess it's because Namecoin is one of the oldest alt-coins and though it hasn't been super-successful, it also hasn't out-right disappeared. It's the little alt-currency that doesn't grow in popularity but it also doesn't go away, possibly because it's a merge-mined coin. I imagine a lot of gox users would love to have this option.
To gox, what does it matter? NMC might not be worth much but as an exchange, they are interested in volume and fees.
I would personally consider its integration a wise move, even if the coin is mostly useless.

A Couple of good points there; but there's got to be more more to it. Mt.Gox could had easily chosen NVC over NMC if they only cared about volume and fees. I think (hope) some big announcements are coming from NMC developers... |

there's an API response but nothing more...Mtgox has never actually named NMC as a target. The only altcoin they specifically called out was LTC.
