If you read my initial post, I stated that NMC development SEEMS dead.
That's why I'm here asking, because I can't find any activity on NMC anywhere.

MtGox did it to do the pool operators a favour Wink
Pool operators have to sell all those useless NMC that they made from merged mining somewhere ...

NMC won't be added to Gox anytime soon. Nice attempt to spread rumours, now go back to trollbox on BTC-e and wait for fontas further instructions.

Is on their API and confirmed by Mark Karpeles himself; Apparently you are the only one that doesn't know....

Well, if I must speculate, I'd guess it's because Namecoin is one of the oldest alt-coins and though it hasn't been super-successful, it also hasn't out-right disappeared. It's the little alt-currency that doesn't grow in popularity but it also doesn't go away, possibly because it's a merge-mined coin.  I imagine a lot of gox users would love to have this option.

To gox, what does it matter?  NMC might not be worth much but as an exchange, they are interested in volume and fees.

I would personally consider its integration a wise move, even if the coin is mostly useless.

A Personal Quote on BTT from 2011:
"I'd be willing to make a moderate "investment" if the value of the BTC went below $2.00.  Otherwise I'll just have to live with my 5 BTC and be happy. :/"  ...sigh.  If only I knew.

A Couple of good points there; but there's got to be more more to it. Mt.Gox could had easily chosen NVC over NMC if they only cared about volume and fees.
I think (hope) some big announcements are coming from NMC developers...

Does anyone have any updated info on this?  I can only find news from April/May so I'm assuming gox won't be adding it at all unless I hear otherwise..

there's an API response but nothing more...Mtgox has never actually named NMC as a target.  The only altcoin they specifically called out was LTC.

NMC is not going to MtGox.
