Bit of a strange question, but why on earth does Lauda have a triple question mark instead of a normal trust rating number? Yes, I am aware that he was part of a failed scheme to extort money from a suspected scammer, but surely then he would just have a negative trust rating, not some question marks? Is there anyone else with a question mark trust rating (I highly doubt it)?

Because they have positive and negative feedbacks. And more importantly, the negative feedback left on their account by shorena is the most recent feedback they got (using default settings). No, this is not unique, xetsr is in a similar situation (to just name one example).
I also completely changed the trust score algorithm to this: if there are no negative ratings score = 0 for each rating, oldest to newest if this rater has already been counted continue score += min(10, round_up(months since rating)) else score = unique_positive - 2^(unique_negative) if score >= 0 start_time = time of first negative score = unique_positive since start_time - unique_negative since start_time if(score < 0) return ??? (orange) move score to range [-9999,9999] return score https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1066857.0

It's crazy that a single negative comment can overwrite 11 positive comments.

It's crazy that a single negative comment can overwrite 11 positive comments. Totally agree here. Maybe instead of showing Trust: 0: -0 / +0 we should see Trust:0: -0/+0 +-0. Total trust score number of positives number of negatives number of months. Theres no reason 1 neg should wipe someone out, no matter how new it is. If someone has done a big scam then every DT user would tag them and wipe them out anyways.

No need to bring that discussion here. Actually, no need to have that discussion at all. Let's just use the gender-neutral "they". I thought Lauda had ??? trust before getting left the last negative one. I am almost positive they did
They only have one "trusted" negative rating on default settings. You don't go to ??? without a negative, so they were not there before the rating by shorena. Theres no reason 1 neg should wipe someone out, no matter how new it is. If someone has done a big scam then every DT user would tag them and wipe them out anyways.
There might be reasons. For example if a long standing, highly trusted account gets hacked, it's useful to get the warning (orange color) after a single feedback, as that can be quickly left.

I was under the impression that the gender neutral pronoun was ze which is what I used. If shorena removes their rating, I am 100% sure that lauda will be at 0 then. Because I switched my default trust from 1 to 2 and I didnt understand why Lauda didnt have postive trust (pretty recently)

The triple question marks is to give an early warning indicator of a potential long con, so that a scammer cannot continue scamming with the same efficiency as if they still had "green" trust.

Interesting point. I gave Lauda new positive trust and the ? ? ? went away. If what you posted was the reason behind the ? ? ?, Theymos may want to tweak the algorithm.

No, if I remove my rating Lauda will be at whatever score they had been before my rating. Well plus the additional "points" due to the rating by Vod.

Counter-Ratings like yours (even though you didnt word it as such) are part of how the system works. If someone thinks my rating was given unjustified they can leave an additional rating to reflect this.

It's crazy that a single negative comment can overwrite 11 positive comments. Yet you gave her a positive just today to show a +2 now. Something we should know about VOD? A little messing around under the dinner table perhaps? edit for him/her wants to be recognized as a "they" to retain their gender neutral anomity. Somedays they want to be a male and somedays they want to be a female. Really level in the headed if you ask me. Right VOD? With your positive comment in the feedback. Vod 137: -0 / +14 2017-02-01 0.00000000 Moderates forum with a level head. One of the few remaining assets to this forum!

I don't plan on doing it again. According to what I have learned, what I did actually hurt Lauda's trust rating. Any new unique positive rating will make one '0' (i.e. if you have ? '??). However, if you remove an old rating such as mine.. my rating is 'fresh' now. Aged ratings give more trust points (i.e. that's why total ratings grow over time).

As far as I can see, aged ratings give more trust points, only if a user has no negative trust ratings.Otherwise, only the number of unique positives and negatives matter. So Vod, your decision to remove your old rating and give fresh rating only helped Lauda move from ? ? ? to 0. It did not (and will not) hurt Lauda's trust rating. However, if Shorena decides to remove his negative rating, then it will have an impact on Lauda's overall trust rating.
