I'm a newbie, so I wish to know if bitcoin mining tools can be used to mine Altcoin.

Bitcoin ASIC's can mine other SHA256d altcoins.  If you want/need more details you'll need to post in the altcoin section.

Bitcoin ASIC's can mine other SHA256d altcoins.  If you want/need more details you'll need to post in the altcoin section.

I agree with these, tools that can be used to mine bitcoin these days are ASIC's which is specifically can mine bitcoin on a higher speed also it is only designed to mine SHA256D or Scrypt.

Again, mining bitcoin and altcoins do have different hardware, software, pools, rig and equipment that can be used.
