No. Not Jesus Christ himself will be able to create an altcoin that's successful. Imagine Jesuscoin and it's a ponzi just like most the the altcoins made. If Jesuscoin could magically heal the sick or bring back the dead maybe it might have some value.

Right.  What about the one you all worship, Satoshi?  What if he secretely launched another alt-coin?  Wouldn't you worshippers jump head first into it?

What is Facebook decided to start its own coin?

Didn't amazon and google do that?  People in crypto don't trust coins started by govts and corporations.  They tend to be self enriching schemes and people are sick of seeing that.  They'll need to join Bitcoin or another established alt.

I think not because altcoins and digital coins are not entertainment
although they make investing on altcoins still not be a threat to bitcoin
but if the amount of Investment more than marketcap of bitcoin
maybe there are chance for replace bitcoin.

No, you are overrating the power of celebrities in this field. They could get a decent marketcap going because of speculators wanting to profit from the "wow a celebrity endorsing a cryptocurrency" hype, when that is over, a big fat dump would happen and the coin would join the list of irrelevant shitty coins with no value.

In case someone famous created an altcoin, but not someone famous like Linus Torvald or whatever obscure cryptographist, no someone that is mainstream, like Rihanna, would it be a threat to Bitcoin ? You could be sure that masses of people would come to use Rihanna's payment system, as it would be branded. Or at the inverse would that be the door for millions of people to know what Bitcoin is and make them understand that this is a great progress ?

For me I dont see that as a factor in determining whether the world will accept it or not. Because I have seen successful musicians sucks at any other thing other than show biz. We have seen trump coin here and I didnt even bother to check how its doing so far its not taking over from Monero for it to come close to bitcoin. Some business are just meant for specific set of people and crypto to me is not meant for entertainers.

Not necessarily true.  A popular coin pushed by a celebrity could easily create its own micro eco-system which could be quite large, market-cap speaking.

Imagine Bieber starting his own coin and only accepting that coin for things like Bieber merchandise and concert tickets.  The catch would be to make it seamless to use that token so then they'd just need to team up with social media outlets like fb and a few banks and the rest is "push'n play".  I just made thafup cause it sounds good.  Grin

A few years ago I wrote these types of celebrity and corporate coins were coming - I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.  They can be smart about it and join "the revolution" by creating their tokens as sidechains on Bitcoin (and call them BieberBits, WalBits, MacysBits, etc), that way they don't add further fragmentation to the Bitcoin eco-system, while creating a win-win for everyone in crypto, as their popularity & fan base would also [indirectly] increase Bitcoin adoption.  I still think this is coming, too much money to be made to be ignored.

What is Facebook decided to start its own coin?

If they really want to compete with bitcoin they need also to put on the table a good amount of hashrate and make their coin secure, you can't beat bitcoin just with a new brand coin, and pos coin will not work either because their distrubution model is always bad, if facebook can not afford to invest tons of money early to make their coin strong i'm afraid it will not be worth it for them

Max keiser, financial terrorist and strange person. The coin was born live on his show.

He also shamelessly pumped quark which went nowhere. I don't know if I'd call him super famous.
Ha ha I remember Quark, he must have made a nice bit of dosh on MAX and Quark, from what I remember I am sure MAX went up as far as $5 at one point.

Altcoin can never challenge bitcoin, it's too late. No matter how the famous guy will promote it, it doesn't matter. There are so many interest group behind the bitcoin, so it will always be No.1.

yes mate just in case they really wanted to chase btc i think they needed a lot of time and money to start since btc already created its popularity so it would be hard to surpass or to compete with it, even celebrities or big names will introduce another project maybe some crypo followers will ride but for sure they will still trust btc and continue following btc.

Come on guys. Bitcoin has 15 mil wallet accounts. We have not exactly become mainstream. It's been 8 years and we have only 15 mil. accounts. Very slow adoption if you ask me. I wouldn't be so sure that nothing can dethrone the old grandpa :-)

accounts? wallet accounts? seriously! there is no such term.
and there is no possible way that you or anybody can tell how many people are using bitcoin. which makes your 15 mil only a pure random guess.

but the point about adoption is somewhat true. it has been slow and there have been some obstacles on the way, such as the volatile price and not being regulated. but at least bitcoin has some adoption and that adoption is growing every day. which i say is more than enough to call it success.

What is Facebook decided to start its own coin?

They can anytime but I doubt if they can compete or even beat Bitcoin and I thought they will set up they are in a better position now,why fix something that is not broken and what are they going to accomplish if they set up their own crypto currency, people might think facebook will go mlm or ponzi, because facebook are full of mlm coin ads.

You guys are so naive.... there are plenty of individuals in this world with net-worths larger than all of Bitcoin. If an Uber famous person started and invested into their own altcoin, it would absolutely overshadow Bitcoin. Warren Buffett could absolutely crush Bitcoin if he introduced BuffettCoin, regardless of any of the tech or specs behind it. Zuckerberg or Gates, maybe even Trump, could achieve this goal as well. Oprah could do it, Drake could do it. Shit, I bet Dr. Phil could do it. Bitcoin is still fucking tiny.
