I created a trezor hardware wallet in electrum without actually having one, i don't plan on buying one this was not done on purpose. I don't know how this even worked because if i try to set one up again electrum tells me that no trezor/hardware wallet is found and stops the process. Anyway the stupid idiot that i am, i send 200€ worth of btc to this adress, and now i can't access the wallet anymore.

My question is, if i buy this hardware wallet would i gain access again? In my understanding i wouldn't because if i use the "I already have a seed" option and enter the seed i get to the wrong wallet.

Serious help is appreciated.

I believe when using the Trezor with Electrum, it uses the seed that is stored on the Trezor device. I'm not sure how you would have managed to create one without actually having a Trezor though. If you were to buy a Trezor it would have a different seed that the wallet you had previously set up. What version of Electrum did you use to create the wallet?

Do you still have the wallet file for this wallet? You may be able to try looking at the wallet configuration files and see if you are able to recover the private keys for this wallet based on the information in the files. You do have a 12 word seed that was used for this wallet but creating a new wallet with this seed generates a different wallet?

I used electrum in tails when i created the wallet. I am not sure which version, because shortly after i created the wallet tails updated to 2.10 and i think electrum got updated too. I can post which version of electrum tails currently uses later.

I used the save a copy of this wallet function but if try to open it now it shows me an error about splitting files up, and electrum version incompatibility, which is why i think tails changed the version of electrum with their 2.10 update.

Can i do this even when the "opening" process as descriped above isn't working?

Exactly, but i have a 13 word seed if that changes something. Apperently the same word seed generates 2 different wallets depending on wether they are used as standard wallet or hardware wallet seeds.

Actually, I looked at my wallet files and it doesn't look like they really contained any useful data. They are plaintext though so its worth checking the contents of them.

I think the difference in wallets may be because of BIP39 being used for hardware wallets versus the normal BIP44, but not 100% sure on this.

It looks like Trezor should actually use a 24 word seed so it is pretty strange that you have a 13 word seed. I did find the following tool which suggests you can recover Trezor wallets with the seeds:
* https://github.com/anaoum/trezor-recovery

It may be worth a try, but not sure if this will work with a 13 word seed.

I believe you have restored a "trezor" wallet from your seed.
If you still have that seed, you can restore the wallet using the latest version of Electrum, by checking the 'bip39' option.
