Hi,

I have been running a faucet for the last couple of months and I found that the hardest part is to protect against the bots.

I started with high rewards, a short timer and the solvemedia captcha, but this proved a bad idea. I soon watched the number of claims being very high, but the number of visitors reported by google analytics staying the same. This was a sign that the faucet was hit by bots.

Then I replaced solvemedia by recaptcha. As far as I understand, repatcha is more expensive to solve (3$ per 1000 captchas or ~300 Satoshis per claim) but still I had to reduce the claim to 100 Satoshis in order to avoid the bots.

I do not want to have multiple captchas and I do want to keep high rewards for the users, but this is very difficult to do.

I look at moonbit faucet and they give high rewards for rich countries. How are they protecting?

What are your thoughts?

That's interesting. Do you know how they detect the bots?

Yes, I do know how they detect bots.

They have a huge database with accounts from their network and they run constant checks with many algos.
As you see, there's 2.8k users (or better to say, accounts) caught doing bad things.

Nice one mexicantarget!
Sometimes you need to talk as a third person point of view.
