The Digital Footprint Foundation will be the first Crowd-driven, Non-Profit Foundation run entirely on the blockchain.

The proposed beneficiaries will likely be:

• Charitable Organizations
• Educational Institutions
• Organization led and non-organization led research grants
• Misc. crowd-sourced causes

THIS IS NOT A PLATFORM FOR DAPPS
THIS WILL NOT BE AN ICO

Short and Sweet Explanation - the real announcement will have much more detail
I have been deeply involved in this community since 2014, and our community does not have the representation and positive PR that it needs to be taken seriously by the masses. This foundation would help build a credible reputation, as well as provide political / legal representation for crypto's mass adoption to continue to thrive. As an additional positive PR boost, this organization will offer consulting services to other non-profits in order to help them realize the benefits of blockchain technology in their business practices.

At this point, the whitepaper is nearly complete and I need assistance standing up the website and getting the content into a visually appealing ANN.

These positions will be voluntary at first, once the whitepaper is finalized these positions will become paid positions. There is no guarantee but early team members will also be in the running for Board of Director positions if they are earned. All development costs will be covered by me. And if positions go unfilled, I will touch base with trusted contractors on this forum to handle the task for a fee.

Positions currently being recruited for:

• Website Developer
• Lead Blockchain/Smartcontract Developer (lang, platform are open to discussion still)
• Graphic Designer (Including graphics, animations, videos, ANN threads)
• PR Lead / Editor - Non profit SME

Unfortunately, as this is going to be a legitimate business in the near future, all partners / hires will have to provide all legally required information (down the road).

EDIT: Who I am & what role I will play

Background:
-Bachelors degree in economics and business administration
-Masters degree in Information Systems and Technology management - concentrated on Network and Cyber security.
-Three years of professional software development experience in the QA-testing and scrum master / project management role - within a fortune 100 financial services firm
-Four years in crypto project development - worked on projects such as BitcoinPLUS, Project Radium, and I am currently assisting with the Elastic Network, trying to help organize the community for the main-net launch
-Although it really doesnt mean much here, I hold a scrum master certification, as well as current CompTIA Network+ and Security+ Certifications.

I am a leader through and through. A technically oriented project manager professionally. I code on occasion for task automation/IoT devices and admin several systems locally and virtually. I run masternodes for 2-3 crypto projects, and I do software testing and documentation for all of the crypto projects I invest in (I see it as protecting my investment). I have been mining cryptos heavily for as long as I have been investing and trading on these forums; which is since 2014.

I will play the part of the foundation president and Lead Director(CEO) while the entire governance system(smart contract driven & blockchain accounted for) is created. Once the foundation is up and running, I intend to let the foundation donors and stakeholders direct the leadership of the organization - I would be happy playing a smaller role like head of technical development, but would continue running the organization if I was selected. In either case I will retain my Seat as President on the Board of Directors and proxy voting rights for all non-voting stakeholders.

I have an organizational chart created, but once again that is not going to be released until further down the road. All the processes and structures will be works in progress and all team members input will be heard.

More specifically:
I will be acting Project manager / Scrum master - we will be employing agile development with such a young project.
I will also be serving as a public facing representative that will approach and discuss our involvement in the community and crowd sourcing donation proposals. I have connections at 4-5 US East coast universities that I will be bringing into the fold later on.
I will also be filling in any and all roles that remain unfilled at the beginning of this project.  No job to small or to large - I could code the website myself, but I code in python and I have only gone so far with Flask and django - I also feel there are more efficient stacks to use. The learning curve would stall the project for too long imho.

Also, my main account (which will release the Announcement Thread) is a Senior Member soon to be Hero account. My social media contact info will be available for people to reach out directly in the future, but for now I need to keep the communication channels minimal to avoid missing any important correspondence.

Don't think an idea contributes much to a project if not executed properly by a expert.I mean if I'm a developer interested in a position to apply,on what basis should I trust the project that it will be a success and under whose leadership ? You should probably introduce yourself briefly.

I've spoken briefly with the OP of this thread via Twitter DM, and on its face this project seems absolutely vital.

One thing we all want, even for the sake of profiting from our own bags, is eventual acceptance of cryptocurrency as legitimate by the world at large, and deep integration of it into the existing systems and processes. The denial of Bitcoin's ETF shows governments aren't only not ready or able to understand the future benefits, but they are expending resources wading through the toxicity in conducting their research into how anything would work.

I think an official-capacity organization that represented all crypto, like a political action committee, would interface with governments much more easily. It could develop a legislative arm, a public education arm, a self-policing arm to support honest actors and drive out scammers... it could help crypto grow up and enter the real world.

It doesn't hurt that the DFF is a great acronym considering the success and renown of the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation). I'm willing to bet the EFF and DFF would be in close alignment and support across many issues, and that they'd be willing to lend resources and advice to help the DFF get launched.

Much Appreciated Notsofast! Your ability to recognize exactly what I envision for this foundation reinforces the confidence I have in this project. I will be utilizing your knowledge of the crypto-landscape to aid in tough decisions during this formation period and I will personally be voting for your spot on the Board of Directors for iteration 1 of the foundations governing body.

Now to speak towards the points you brought up specifically:

You are spot on with the motives here. More acceptance and better public perception of this industry means more money coming in and that means we thrive collectively. Also, we will need a 'front', to deal with the legal side of crypto regulation, we will need a political arm to influence and educate the politicians that might try to dampen blockchain/cryptos global impact without understanding it fully. And this needs to be done through an organization that is NOT anonymous / sudo anonymous.  This will be a globally governed, incorporated non-profit foundation, with potential needs for sub-groups in every country around the globe to deal with local politics.

About the Name: Notsofast did draw a stunning connection there between the EFF and DFF.  That was unintentional, but maybe sub-consciously enacted.

The name was chosen because of the definition of Digital Footprint - the information about a particular person that exists on the Internet as a result of their online activity.

In this community there are scammers, toxic trolls, market manipulators, and then there are the idk maybe 50% legit real people with good intentions. I want to represent the 50% Legit population, and make it tougher for the other 50% to continue their questionable practices. I would never suggest regulation, but to at least acknowledge the governments concerns and work with them in exploring all options before they go down that road is important. If we do not take responsibility for the Digital Footprint we are creating in this industry in a professional manner, I can foresee big bad governments coming in and making our lives much more difficult.

I live for this crypto world and I dont want to see our rights as creators, investors and dreamers get regulated because we didnt communicate effectively enough with the uninitiated law makers.

Whether this project is the vehicle to take us on the journey or not. I view this as a MUST HAVE for cryptos all around success, acceptance and freedom.

Hello everyone.

I'm posting to inform that I applied for one of the positions and, following a very good Skype call with OP/President/Lead, have formally joined the nascent foundation (shall I just say DFF from now?) team as PR Lead / Editor - Non-Profit SME.

This is only a personal update to introduce myself to the members of this forum with interest in the goals of DFF and to give an idea about what I'll bring to the team. By way of caution, what I post should not yet be taken as definitive information about the Foundation nor its directions as that should wait for a proper ANN thread. However, I hope that my profile will help you see more of what DFF hopes to become.


Professional Background
- More than a decade working with international aid organisations in post-conflict, disaster response and recovery in the Global South. Some of my most challenging projects were the 2004 Asian Tsunami (Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bangladesh), major earthquakes (2006 Pakistan and 2009 Indonesia), the "superfloods" of 2010 in Pakistan and most recently a cholera outbreak amidst civil war in South Sudan (2015/16).
- I am an accountability specialist (within project management) and most of my field work focuses on monitoring and evaluation of community-driven projects in the areas of water and sanitation, shelter and livelihoods. I am also involved in proposal and grant management for these projects, on one end negotiating with high-level donors and governments and on the other, training impoverished communities to implement activities.
- I was a journalist and news bureau chief for two years in Brunei, one of the most media-restricted countries in the world.
- I am currently pursuing an MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration.

What I see my role as within DFF
To be perfectly honest, my personal technical knowledge of the crypto world is limited - I have owned and known of crypto for only as long as my forum account has existed (today, just over six months). That been said, I can offer my real-world experience and perspective of non-profit work on the ground, where needs are the most urgent and funding is becoming increasingly difficult.

As OP has posted, our community faces a credibility issue as perceived by the masses. We lack the representation and positive PR that, unfortunately, is necessary for us to be taken seriously.

To start with, I hope to assist with DFF's formation in terms of focused publicity: getting the right messages out to targeted audiences. It may be that my nominal technical know-how of crypto will be a blessing in disguise - our messages must be clear in content, technically sound, yet simple enough to effectively get our desired responses.

As OP stated: DFF will not be a DAPP nor an ICO, but it will face the same challenges of any new project launching. How will it maintain momentum and interest? How will it manage expectations? I hope to assist with those non-technical parts of DFF.
