Recently, and especially in 2021, many computer games have been released that use NFT. Some of them get popularity, while others fail. Let's try to get one straightforward idea observation.

Skins in CS:GO are the precursor of current NFTs?

Counter Strike :Global Offensive launched in 2012. They added "skins" mechanics a year later - all ingame weapons could be customized by players with unique colors and patterns. New skins were obtained from lootboxes as items for the game. Actually, not inside the game, but as a Single Token in Steam-platform (parental platform for CS:GO). Let's say "skin token", which can be traded freely between players within the steam platform. And they could be used inside Steam Trade platform, so sold directly on money-on-steam-wallet (which could be spent on acquiring new games or other goods).

Since 2014 CSGO skins have become a common tradegoods and commodities, and not only for CS:GO players. In 2015-2017 years there was a boom of outer-steam web markets, gambling projects trading platforms, and hundreds of websites that used skins as a valuable equivalent of liquid money.

Later in 2018-2019, some payment systems started, and right now, any website in the world can accept those CSGO skins as money on their websites.

Today CSGO skins is an industry with more than $300 million monthly turnover.

Probably it needed to be said that CSGO, even to the moment of just release in 2012 was one of the most popular game IP in the world, and even right now, it is top 10 of the most popular games in the world.

Axie Infinity Axie is a game where users can collect creatures and use them in battles. It is on the Ethereum blockchain and allows users to earn income from the sale of SLP, Axie creatures, and AXS, while SLP and AXS can be traded on the Binance platform. At first glance, this game is attractive with bright graphics.

Sorare It is a fantasy football game where users can exchange collectible images of real-life football players. You need to build a team of 5 players using either free beginner cards or paid tokenized cards to play. Players can level up by earning points for games won, goals scored, and other achievements.

Gods Unchained It is an Ethereum based NFT card game similar to Magic The Gathering and Hearthstone. In it, players collect decks with different abilities and characteristics to fight against other users. Defeating an opponent gives in-game items that can be used or sold while winning ranked games earns you Flux to create powerful NFT cards. They can be sold or invested in new cards to speed up progress.

What is the secret to creating quality NFT games?

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the creators of the above games were not thinking more about creating a high-quality game but about how to make more money on their product. It led to the fact that the players gradually lost interest in them. In addition, the implementation of NFT in games with RCE mechanics is challenging. Finished products require a lot of improvements.

There is an opinion that modern NFT games are low-quality products created only to extort money from players. However, such global giants as CS:GO prove that the merger of the gaming and crypto industries can be pretty successful.

So what is the secret to making a good PC game using non-fungible tokens? The main idea, is to create a perfect game with perfect graphics, rich functionality, excellent object physics, an unusual plot, and only after that connect the possibility of using cryptocurrencies. Without a great idea and execution and THE GAME inside, any crypto game (no matter how much money you invest in it) is doomed to fail.

So I believe the future next best NFT/RCE games will be published by current top videogames industry publishers, like Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Tencent, and others. What do you think? Are there any chances of creating a great NFT/RCE game without a classical game publisher?

Hi! When games with NFT just started to appear, I honestly doubted that it could be of interest to anyone at all. I didn’t work with cryptocurrencies then and didn’t understand the working principle. However, it seems that only a lazy programmer does not develop similar software. Whether this is good or bad, only time will tell. What do you think about this?

Hello friends! I've been in love with NFT games for a long time, and I think it's a great way to invest. Yes, I agree that the gameplay in many games leaves much to be desired, but the market is rapidly developing, and it is often not difficult to choose the perfect option.

Hello, I have known for a long time that CS:GO has a connection with the NFT world, but I have never tried to use it. Recently I decided to take a chance, a friend advised me, and you know, I liked it. If other games make such favorable conditions for players, this industry will develop rapidly.

Hello, I think the development of games using NFT is good. Of course, there are many consumer goods on the market now, but this does not mean that the idea of integrating crypto and the gaming industry is a bad one. There are many examples of great games using NFTs because CS:GO is far from the only giant that has decided on such experiments. Of course, platforms like Steam talk about poor liquidity, but that's the platform's problem, not the player's. If things continue to develop like this, then NFTs will appear in all games.

Hello, just because there are 1-2 good games using NFT does not mean that combining these two areas is a great idea. Let's analyze the market as a whole. Then we will see that the amount of consumer goods is many times higher than an excellent product. It seems that ordinary players will soon lose faith that it can be profitable and stop investing in it.

Hello, I agree with the opinion of the author of the article. If you make games well, thinking about the player's needs, then you get a good product that deserves a place to be. If you make any software solely for your wild benefit, you are unlikely to create something worthwhile. Do well - it will be good. It seems that this simple truth works not only in the world of computer technology.

Hello, I have only recently begun to pay attention to the crypto industry, and so far, I have not come across frankly failed NFT game projects. I've heard that many projects are closed, but it seems that this happens with regular computer games. In the end, only a few can succeed.
