Hi all, ive been buying btc and alts for the past year or so, but always in small amounts from places like Coinbase + Bittylicious.

Im just wondering what peoples favoured methods of placing larger orders of bitcoin are to get the most from their £?

Bittylicious is convenient and fast however they always seem to be marked up way above market price and coinbase has a weekly limit. Localbitcoins also seem to be marked up above market price.

I recently signed up to bitstamp with the idea of just transfering in £ directly to the exchange to buy in btc at market prices, is this the best way to do things? even with their fees/bank fees?

Any advice appreciated,

Thank you

Take a look at Kraken and btc-e, generally btc-e has a lower market price than the other exchanges so you may be able to buy Bitcoins cheaper in there.

Thats because there is more risk to send money there and to get it back Wink. They are reliable, but more risky than most exchanges.
You can buy big amounts on every exchange out there, there is nothing that can hold you back other than your sanity Tongue Wink and self control.
