So the 7950s have been out for a few days now, but I haven't seen anything other than theoretical numbers for them.  So does anyone have one and hashing yet?

The people that can afford them will probably stick with 5970s or get 7970s...

Just not worth the £££/$$$ right now. If Nvidia get there act together (not much chance) they'll have a competing product by april and a price war will engage. Unfortunately Nvidia's promises and dead lines leave alot to be desired. And the fact that they've shifted there attention to the mobile market and away from discreet graphics means that AMD/ATI will have dominance in the sector in the future. I mean there road map slipped about 2 years ago and they only just admitted it. Which is a first for Nvidia i think, They did/got something wrong? Never! (Thinks bumpgate).

Fact is the new cards arn't going be worth buying for BTC mining until the 8 series comes along. If your after cards, They'll be plenty of EXCELLENT 5 Series on the second-hand market when the 78xx's are released and the 79XX prices come to a more reasonable price. The new architecture just isnt that good for mining. Even i mining software was optimised for CGN, my bet is it wont make much gain.

FPGA for me after the 5 series becomes redundant

7950 cost 450$ at newegg now.
GTX6**  will be released in April 2012. (http://lenzfire.com) but nobody can guarantee it.
So there will be no "reasonable price" for 7950 next two month.
Hardcore overclocked 7950 will do 550Mhash/s or ~0,35BTC/day or 10btc/month or ~60$/month aaand fiiiiinally 120$ total (until GTX6** release).

120$ is ~30% from 7950 price.

So if you think that 7950 will be cheaper more than 30% after GTX6** release - keep your cash at home. And if you think that GTX6** will not be released in april, or 7950 will not lower it's price for 30%+ it's time to upgrade!
