I am have a hell of a time getting any form of mining programs to work! I have been working at it steady since yesterday afternoon. Right now I am using GUIminer, and I am getting a message saying "connection problems" does anyone have any suggestions, or maybe recommendations for using a different method? I'm sure I'm just making it harder than it really is!

Thanks in advance for your help!

connection problems is usually coming from wrong details :

- server name must be right
- port must be right
- username & password should be right (some pools require a wallet adress, others require you to actually register)

Also make sure your firewall isn't blocking the connection.

Thank you for the response! I am registered on notroll.in, and copy pasted all the info. How would I go about checking my firewall settings?

Thank you!

Thank you!

Notroll.in is a scam as far as we know, lots of issues with payments, so i wouldn't use that one for now Smiley

Ok, I changed to Coinotrol now, and turned off my firewall and am still getting the same result, "connection problems".

Lou,

If you still are having difficulties, I'm willing to help troubleshoot this via skype or AIM if you're interested.  I'm a new miner myself and just got a few friends going.  Its difficult to troubleshoot without being physically with the rig but I find it really interesting and I'm learning more everyday.

EDIT: PM sent.  I am using two Sapphires so I'm pretty confident we can get this working easily.

Post your batch string or flags here. something is wrong with your login to the site. im going to go out on a limb and guess youre using your site login info, and not the worker login info on your miner.

Easy:

Start guiminer
Got to file-> new cgminer
host: coinotron.com
port: 3334
username: yourusername.workername
password: workerpassword
device: pick the gpu
threads: 21712
worksize: 256
vectors: 1
intensity: 20
gpu threads: 1
use stratum: yes

using gpu tweak or msi afterburner:
core clock: 1100
mem clock: 1375
power target: anywhere from +10 to +20
play with mV voltage to bring it down if you want to draw less power

you should be getting about 560 kHs plus

and make sure you are using gui miner scrypt
