I'm tracking the coins I've sent to a friend who wants to bet online in exchange for the hard cash he had. This friend asked for bitcoin for which his prime reason is to bet NBA games, later did I learn he sold his btc for higher price to someone on facebook and now he was scammed.

If this has been asked before please provide the link because I have been dying to track the coins I've sent. Its been sent to bittrex exchange but will an exchange help me find what yo are looking for or am I on my own?

The short answer is no.

This is in direct conflict with the privacy conditions that the exchanges may or may not have, especially if it's a small amount under $10k they will not bother looking into it for you.

Just make sure your friends knows how many scammers are out there, before he makes any deals.

There is a big misunderstanding of "coins on an exchange".  When you have "coins on an exchange", you don't have coins any more.  The exchange has your coins.  The only thing you have, is a PROMISE (an IOU, I Owe You) on the exchange's web site to give you back coins.  That promise is worth as much as your belief in their honesty.

If I lend you $1000,-, and you write me a paper that you OWE ME $1000,-, then YOU have the dollars, and I have the paper.  My paper is worth $1000,- in as much as one believes your promise.

$200 is too far from being $10k. I wouldn't bother look it for him anymore, its disturbing to learn that a fellow countrymen scammed him. I forgot to warn him about sending btc the first if he will make transactions to someone.

Not exactly what I was hoping for an answer but you are right.
For someone who just want to trade every day and sends btc wherever I am, I'm used to using a mobile wallet. Are the coins in this Mobile wallet also considered NOT mine?

The question to be answered is: do YOU hold the secret key of those coins (and you alone) ?  Then the coins are yours.  Does someone else own the keys and you just tell them to move them ?  Then THEY own them.

There seem to have no other option for me and the rest of my fellow Filipinos. its the wallet that we used because to company worked with the local remittances here in our country which we can pay our bills using their wallets. Its somehow trusted here although I understand we don't have the private key. I don't remember I was given when I sign up. I can't either create another wallet too. Sucks to have some a company that dominates the entire country.

Anyway,  I can't track the coins nor the exchange can help. Its a dead end for that case.

Yes exchanges doesn't care about helping others to track where their bitcoin ends and this is also an issue of customers privacy. You can lock this thread because i don't think anybody can help you out in what you want.

You can look at this https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/Bittrex.com/addresses
It is a list of bitcoin addresses that are known to be generated by bittrex for deposits.

if you contact the exchange service and tell them your story then i don't think they are going to waste their time listening to a story.
but if the amount is high and you have some concrete proof of getting scammed there is a small chance that they can help you by telling you who the account belongs to. but providing proof is very hard and as i said i don't think anyone is going to waste their time listening to you. they probably get a lot of it already

Theres no use even he track the bitcoin address of that scammer he cant still get those bitcoins back no matter what.He should forget to those coins because in part of nature of bitcoin it cant be reversed even the exchange decide to help you out but same as other mentioned here they wont really bother to help you out specially on small amounts of bitcoin.

I think OP wanted to know the owner of the address for the reason of bugging this guy to either return or pay for the BTC or to make this guy if known to be famous in FB being a scammer to warn other people.  As I read the story, it is your friends responsibility to pay you the money since he is the one who asked you for it.

I also agree that the exchanges will not cooperate with you if the compromised amount is not that big and there is no bounty for the exchange to do it.  And I guess your friend had learned his lesson.
