Mining with a normal PC will likely not yield any significant rewards. If you want to mine BTC, you really need a dedicated ASIC to generate returns.

You might have better luck mining some altcoins for profit with your GPU, but I am not sure which ones would be best to focus on at the current time.

OP is already mining altcoins, he's mining with minergate...

OP, you're earning so little because your pc isn't really all that powerfull, however 0.11$ still seems a little too low. Make sure that you're mining on your GPU and CPU (CPU won't earn you much, but you're not paying for electrcity so why not  Tongue). It might be worth investing in a mining rig because you're not paying for electricity you have a large advantage over others so you'll probably turn a big profit.

I think it's the nvidia card that's the problem, AMD cards usually have better luck and support with mining

I really don't have any idea about mining with PC and such, but is it recommended to use a laptop for mining? (Sounds like a silly question)

Never, the thermals of a laptop is way worse than a desktop or mining rig, so you'll more than likely burn and ruin that laptop

Minergate sucks...I was earning about 30% less when I tried it out. Mining XMR on nanopool now, quite happy with the returns.

Just go to any pool (like nanopool) and check out their FAQ/help section, they usually explain exactly what you need to do to connect, what soft to use and what parameters to set.

Dunno about a 1060 in terms of perfs, I think it's something like 200-300H/s on XMR maybe? An i7 does 220, so an i5 should be somewhere around 180...so let's say your computer has a total HR of 480H/s max. This should net you around 0.30$/day.

Simply put, a block reward is a fixed amount of coin you get when you find a block on the blockchain. For instance, mining 1 block on XMR nets you 8 XMR coins, so at current rates, around 150$. Difficulty rises as more coins are being mined. It's like mining in a gold mine, you'll deplete it as you mine so it gets more difficult to find gold...

Ahhh. Thanks! The laptop might die immediately. I guess mining is a heavy task. A well built rig might do but costly.

no one can give you answer for this question !!! You need to understand first how the mining working
if someone answering your question and telling you today at this moment you can make 1$ a day , that would be true for this moment , an hour , day , week later with the same setup you might can do 2$ a day or 0.1$ a day. it really depend on the network difficulty , current exchange rate !!! and some another factor i mentioned under
my suggestion is do your own research first , spend a few days on this forum to learn the basics...
or just use goggle :  Wink
understanding mining network difficulty .... https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty
understanding mining block reward .... https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining

im just going to paste and copy my usually answer for this kind of questions Smiley

For calculating your mining income , possible profitability you need to know a few things :
to answer to the opening post of this topic i highlited some questions Smiley

How much $ is your mining PC ?
What is the total power draw for your system at the wall ?
How much $/kwh you paying for electricity included tax and another fees ?
What is the max hashrate you can get from ur rig ?
What wallet / exchage you going to use (what % they charging you for exchange ) ?
What mining software you are using ? ( its free or have some % developer fee )
What pool are u going to use ? ( pool fee% )
What ROI (return of investment) do you prefer ...

what any of the calculators telling you today , that is just for today ... if the difficulty going higher , your ROI can be doubled easy and ur mined coin going to be less Smiley
when you have all this information , you can use any mining calculator Smiley
there is one for example for eth:
