It's good that steam is accepting Bitcoin, but is there a real advantage to paying with Bitcoin over with card/paypal in Steam?

Is there a discount ot something? otherwise it is just a nice extra place to be able to use Bitcoin.

Nice extra place? Steam is the most regarded, the most famous and the biggest online gaming shop on our planet. It is not 'just another place' for spending your bitcoin.
Steam platform is used by almost 90 million gamers. Steam reaches 237 countries, and its more than 9,000 different games. This news is huge.

I have a question guys , anyone know what steam are doing with those funds ? I suppose they are exchanging them instantly to cash ? If it's the case then what's the point exactly (of accepting bitcoin on first place)?

Anyone else did see this? I was excited to see this because I was at work and I couldn't be one of the first to do it, so I watched it and thought damn, it's really fast. It's in fact instantaneous to get 100$ on there and start buying games, skins, cards, anything you want. Bitcoin works great for mainstream use now and it will only get better, in a couple of years all those kids will be buying with the Bitcoin they make on the internet with their content.

This is pretty cool, i read that they will soon launch the bitcoin payment system and from the video i see that it is pretty fast through bitpay, now i hope the price of bitcoin will be increased Smiley

steam or her partners dont touch bitcoins, Bitpay instantly converts the bitcoins in to local currency of the users. The point as seen in BitPay blog is that steam are allow users for emerging markets like India, Brasil, uses a currency , where credit cards or other payments are not avaliable:

it doesn't matter what they do with the bitcoin they receive because it is just creating more popularly and adoption for bitcoin in the gaming community with one of the biggest gaming platforms in the world. also you never know what they are doing with the bitcoin, bitpay has an option to receive the bitcoin instead of bank transfer of fiat

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Valve uses BitPay to offer Bitcoin as a payment option to their customers on Steam. They receive money in their bank accounts right after each sale because the price of Bitcoin right now is too volatile and presents a risk to Valve should they decide to keep the coins. BitPay is converting everything behind the scenes for a fee of course. Now I think Valve wanted to extend their Steam shop to untapped markets where credit and debit card purchases aren't very popular.

Oh wow that's a nice surprise  Smiley haven't logged into my Steam account in the past week, I was thinking it would be months before they actually start accepting Bitcoin. Have any of you guys tried crediting your Steam account using Bitcoin from a local wallet? I'm wondering if it would be as fast. I have my Bitcoins with Coinbase and it's always been fast but if the Bitcoin is coming from a local wallet, wouldn't they have to wait for 2 confirmations just to be sure?

I've tested it, and it's really fast. now i've bought three games wth my bitcoin (damn, that sales were harsh xD). It's like a dream come true for me because using bitcoin is easier than using cards.

It is a great idea though and it works. Steam is the main flatform all gamers use. Its like having bitcoin there makes a huge difference and people will see it on the payment page and possibly could be interested and google bitcoin and then become part of the community. Also it creates lots of bitcoin trannsaction.

What do you mean? Steam does still take Bitcoin as the payment method. Where did you get the information from, and why does Steam will do that?
