blockchain.info shows a list of double spends - http://blockchain.info/double-spends]http://blockchain.info/double-spends

Are these double spends that have been attempted or that have made it into the blockchain? Does anyone have a number for how many BTC have been added in excess of the fixed amount determined by protocol because of double spend transactions?

All double spends never have both spends confirm.  So no bitcoins have been added to existence.  There is the risk that if a payment is sent that is double spent then the original receiver of the funds will not confirm and the payment won't go through.
