Something Blow up when mining

I was typing and doing stuff. Then I hear a boop sound. And one of my computer is death.

It seems that the videocard explode though I do not know for sure what's exploding.

It's not a rig. I put a video card on one old computer to test mining.

Well....

It blows up.

I wonder what should we do to prevent this from happening?

Is there a software that monitor GPU temperature and turn off everything when it exceeds something?

yes  but  the lack of info does not help us.

were you using and amd rx 480 or rx 470?

msi afterburner has shut down  settings

if you were mining  with  claymore 8.1  for eth he has shutdown settings.  for hot rigs

if you used smOS  for watching all your amd rigs.

Sometimes hardware just fails. When you consider these cards were not designed for the 24/7 grind that is being placed on them the fact that they are as reliable as they are is pretty good.


P.S. If this was an RX 470 it is expected behavior. They are known to have a 10-12% failure rate within the first 30 days of hardcore mining.

Nor I, and I have a fair amount of RX470's where if it was 10-12% as you indicate I would have surely noticed by now. I have been running some of them since they were launched and I cannot recall every having an issue with either them or the 480's.

I have some 470 too and after 6 months of mining I didn't have any problem.
Maybe I've been damn lucky, but I think that 10-12% is not a real rate

What type and rating of psu do you have ? , seems like you just upgrade your gpu and forget the psu ,if this right then you didn't read much about mining , before you try you should read and search and make accurate calculations....but you have learned the lesson goodluck with your next attempt.

1300W gold, or 1000W but you have to keep an eye on consume, underovolt and maybe under clock.

I've always used USB powered risers and they work just fine
