Both molex and pci powered risers should be fine. Pci "may" be safer but molex seems sufficient. Be careful with sata powered.

with EVGA power supplies you can use a mix of molex and pci powered risers since you don't get enough for all molex or pcie. (Although technically you could go all pci if you had 6gpus and had 6 psu pcie 6+2pin + 6+2pin. The cords with 2 pci connections on one end.)

All of those risers are made by the same factory from the same product line, you will do well with any of them, the specifics of your deployment and power setup will dictate which kind you use.

I been using the pictured Riser 2 since they were introduced. I throw the included SATA to PCIe power adapters away and connect a PCIe power cable directly to the riser board.

The included USB 3 cables seem to work ok, but I do need to order 2 longer cables per rig as they are kind of short when using them in 5 or 6 GPU rigs.

I would go for riser 2 because the voltage regulator much better for the rx470 and rx480

If you are using a other card you can go with riser 1 doesnt matter so much.

Can you explain me why is the riser 2 better for rx470 and rx480 ? I think the difference is that version 2 is using power supply 12V only (you can use independent 12V power supply) and other versions need 12V and 5V. The disadvantage is that linear regulator heating more than other versions, due to higher voltage drop.

Do you mean this ITHOO? But there are also other brand (for example I had also OLIKE, egomall etc.) Or all comes from one OEMs?
There are many suppliers in Shenzen and almost everyone says "I am the manufacturer" and show pictures their mounting halls.
Maybe they are buying only PCBs and they are mounting only other components/connectors.
I will order this month big quantity (several thousands). Last month I ordered from Shenzen C.X.T technology V006S, and I am not sure if they are really manufacturer. For next order I will need better price, so I am looking for primary source.

The PCI plug On R2 , the plug  is the issue on most of the other ones they burn out to fast etc .. so far sense i switched to the boards with PCI plugs , Ive had no burn outs it seems more stable and use a 16 gw wire.

to be honest, i don't think it matters..Ive had more trouble with the molex Plug type,  no issue yet with the PCI type, doesn't say i won't, just not yet .
