I can understand that it was a dark market please but what is this so called exit scheme and why do people deposit so much money in it,that is what i did not understand .Are they booked for selling illegal drugs and fire arms or for cheating the users as it is not clear in the article,either way 40000 BTC is a hell lot of money.

That's what they deserve.

They said that they are striving for free markets, and silk road and other dark net markets were. But these scamming scumbags turned out to be just cons that had nothing else to do in life than to scam people out of their money.

But, still there is always a risk of dark net markets shutting down. Even the most trustworthy ones can go scam.

That is why you always ALWAYS use multisig escrow when you pay to the vendor. That way even if the website went scam, you have a chance to contact the vendor and sort something out with him. And the site will never have full access to your funds since they only have one key and it is a 2-3 multisig escrow. That is much much better than just trusting on someone you don't even know.
