Hey,

so in another thread, I thought it would be neat to have a little game:

Quote
This would make for quite an interesting game, wouldn't it. Suggestion:

Let's open a thread, where everyone has a given timeframe (let's say a week) to post a hypothetical portfolio of – whatever, 1 BTC worth of coins (maximum number 12 coins, less are allowed). After one year (and maybe at some points in time in between), we check who made the most plus and who didn't*.

Why not simply buy and hold, you ask?

Mostly  for entertainment purposes, of course.

And because this would be the place to make gutsy make or break bets you wouldn't do in real life.

If you want to get stuff out of it, feel free to place some bets (or buy your picks) Smiley

*There would be two ways of calculating it:

1.: We check prices after exactly one year

2.: We assume, that everyone was smart enough to sell at the peak, so we take the highest price within the given timeframe (I like this version better)

 – both either against BTC or $

So, this thread is to discuss the exact rules of the game. My suggestions:

- Prices will be measured against BTC.

- This is about Altcoins. BTC may not be chosen as an investment.

- A player "invests" exactly 1 BTC.

- A maximum of 12 Altcoins may be chosen.

- The percentage invested per coin may be chosen freely.

- To keep things simpler, only coins listed on coinmarketcap are allowed.

- Players have one week to post their picks in the game thread.

- Every three months, "investments" are checked. The final is after exactly one year, though.

- As mentioned in the quote, there are two ways of determining who won:

----- After a year, prices are checked and whoever has the highest overall winnings, well, wins.

----- We assume, that every player is lucky enough to sell at the peak, so to determine winnings, the highest price -    - within the year will be used to calculate. I prefer this method.

Thoughts?

Good idea. Who will do all the calculation and figure out who the winner is?

Good question.

Since no money will be involved, I think we can trust evry participant to be honest.

If we want to play for money, however, we would need some people to crosscheck results.

Do we want to play for money? If yes, how exactly?

This was something I was thinking about:

To prevent players from changing their picks afterwards, every player may be required to generate a hash of their post. The next poster quotes the hash and so on. Kinda like a blockchain Smiley
