2016 blocks to retarget difficulty?

So if your network had 1Ghash and for whatever reason, dropped to 200Khash then the difficulty would be very high for so many blocks that nothing could be mined efficiently and the miners would stop then your coin would fail.

I am sure this has happened before.

You need to do more research before going further.
