About ethereum based token creation

I'm just curious I am more into bitcoin like wallet client majority of my coins are bitcoin clients but I read a thread that you need a vps when you are going to create a token based on ethereum and Nxt,I read somewhere that you don't need a vps on this because these token are assets..

Forgive my ignorance what is right on this ?
