Connecting a graphics card to a laptop for mining

Question: Is there a way to connect a desktop graphics card to a laptop for mining?

The reason I ask is this: I have a very high end graphics card up at my parent's house that sits unused most of the time now that I am in school full time and don't have time to play video games.  I was telling my dad about this bitcoin mining thing (big mistake) and he is concerned that there are security risks and that someone was going to hack our home network and take our money out of our bank account (nevermind that that previous statement is dubious in more ways than one).  Anyways, he has told me that he doesn't want me to do it anymore from his network.  To be quite honest, since there is so little data that is related to bitcoin mining transmitted on the network, I doubt he would never notice if I was mining, but I respect his decision and his request.

So here's what I'm thinking of doing.  The gaming computer is sitting mostly unused, but I really don't want to take down the setup I have up there at his house.  I have multiple monitors setup, and a flight simulation console mounted for gaming.  The amount of time I would play at school not over breaks is maybe an hour a week, probably less, and I neither have the space in my apartment nor the desire to move the entire setup just to mine for my measly 20 bucks a week.  I also don't have reliable internet (the wifi is free) so I could only mine when I'm keeping an eye on things and entering in the password for the WiFi when it asks for it.

But, can I somehow buy a bracket or something that would allow me to connect my graphics card to my laptop?  Does such a thing exist?  Once again, I am doing this for fun, and if it helps pay for some of my toys, than so be it, but I don't want to drop thousands of dollars on an ASIC miner, especially if I can't actually get one yet!

I'm thinking of a housing for the GPU that would work similarly to a housing that allows you to turn an internal HDD into a HDD that attaches to your computer via USB?  Any ideas?

there was one person on the fourm a while back that has on so they do exist but he got his a few years ago, iv been looking for something similar for years and im sure many miners would love something the same (mostly because they could connect alot more graphics cards up to 1 rig) but iv never found them. id probably say just buy a few cheap components probably $30 or so worth and set up the most basic of basic mining rigs iv just stuck a nice 6870 into about $20 worth used parts

where did you find used parts for $20?  I figure even with a cheap cpu and bare bones computer setup you're looking at $100 minimum right?
