Could Ethereum be improved and make instant trnsactions possible?

So i'm wondering, is it possible that throughout the years ethereum makes it possible for instant or near instant transactions, or is such thing not possible in theory?

Impossible i guess there are also many ethereum users that is increasing but the bitcoin users increasing rapidly the transactions becoming more slower and i guess many switches in ethereum and other currency so the other altcoins holder will also increase if they can do that why they dont do it in bitcoin.

 Yes. but for any coin, not just Eth. Just look at how litecoin jumped on segwit technology first and 5x'ed their value

Buterin is very much alive and active in promoting ethereum technology and they know the problems and the issues of bitcoin so we can be sure that their dev team are looking forward not to have such issue occur in the future,so far ethereum is doing great .
