Does anyone know if using a splitter or cluster connector works for adding more gpus to a mining rig?

Surely if they worked we could all run 24GPU rigs off one 6port mobo?

I therefore assume it's not possible

Has anyone tried this?

often the OS is the bottleneck of GPU's per Rig.

Splitter is working, i've got a 3x splitter and it works perfectly fine on a 4 pcie mobo.

Can you give us any further informations about the mobo and the splitter?

I was thinking of a splitter - something like this:

http://amfeltec.com/products/flexible-x4-pci-express-4-way-splitter-gpu-oriented/

And mobo to be something like the ASUS H81M Plus with 1no 16xpci and 3no 1xpci

Those are super expensive as far as I know.

It has been said that you'd need both a custom mobo BIOS and a modified OS to even have a chance of addressing more than 6-8 cards.

Not your keys, not your coins!

I've gotten quotes from that company as I had the same interest.  It is quite expensive to go past the 7-8 cards and they will tell you, it takes server based motherboards and processors to address all of the video cards as well as specialized OS and software.  Sadly not cost effective for the average miner and the ROI wouldn't be worth it IMO.

mmm thanks all for input

if its not cheaper than a mobo + ram + psu etc etc then obv not a lot of point

Im thinking of picking up the ASUS mobo as above as theyre pretty cheap and 4 gpu per that board should do okay Smiley
