Hello,

I've been reading a lot in this forum and it's time to put everything I learn in to practice. The goal of this post is to help other noobs like me to build their own rigs. I never built a pc before so this is going to be my first time Wink... hope all goes well Smiley

Rig 1

This was my first try, I ask a friend of mine for help building it but the components don't work as I aspected. I can only put 2 cards working. Bought some 1x to 16x raisers but the system gets instable, or, sometimes it doesn't recognize the 3 board at all. Maybe I have to buy some powered raisers...

So know I have a system with 2 Gpus and a second computer with one more gpu. The fourth Gpu laying still Wink

Problems so far:

I think the motherboard is not so good, it doesn't work with raisers. So I'm going to try another brand...

Gpus seems great, I can get around 600 with a litlle OC ( Witch I don't know anything, I'm very inexperience...)

The case only has space to 3 Gpus. I thought it was more practical to have a case but I'm going to let go that idea. Even if you get a great case the temps are lower if the gpus are at the open and with space between them.

Ram seems to work and the Cpu also

The Psu was another disappointing. I search in the cooler master site for a Psu that could handle 4 HD7950 and this one came trough. The problem is that It as 4 connections to pci express on the Psu it self, but only got 2 cables with 2x 8pins and 2 cables with 1x 8pins... I wll take a photo later...
So I can only connect 3 Gpus to this Psu... Not counting on that Wink

I Bought more equipment and will up date this post later today...

Just an FYI, but your PSU will not be able to handle 4x7950. You'll need at least 1200 watts.

7950 has a TDP of 200W. Without overclocking the cards do need 800W, and then ~100W for the rest of the system. Seems like he has around 150W overclocking room there.

100w for the rest of the system? on a HAF case with athlon cpu? you should definitely rethink that bud.

Do you need power raisers for Gpus to work?

well im not expert in mining ring but for what i use its all in one case without add nothing, just graphic card and hop its running, in a case you need a big one with many fan, i use Cooler Master HAF X - http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6653

its more for the show than what i need but look nice  Wink

I thought of buying that case, but it seems that it's better for the temps to have it open air...

For what its worth this is the rig I'm going to put together (prices in AUD), I figures the mobo and the gpus I selected I should just be able to fit in 3 7950s. Unlike the VaporX Sapphire card its cooling should be slimmer so only taking up to 2 expansion slots. With further ado here it is:

AMD Build:
Mobo ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6 $125
CPU AMD A4-5300 3.4Ghz FM2 CPU $52
RAM Patriot 8GB DDR3-1600 (4GGx2) $62
GPU (x3) SA-7950-3GD5-OC-V2 3GB 7950 OC PCI-E VGA Card $310 ($930)
PSU Corsair HX850v2 $210
Case Coolermaster HAF XB $125, Antec Skeleton $184
- Total capital outlay: AMD Build = $1169 (no case), $ (HAF XB) $1294 , $1353 (Skeleton case)

My case is a $4 piece of plywood. No need for a case, cools better without one.

I can't speak for the Extreme 3 specifically, but I have several Extreme 4 motherboards and have had very good luck with them.
