Hey guys,

Totally new to the world of bitcoin here. I initially used the Bitcoin core wallet but did not want to wait for a week to finish downloading the full node, so I wanted to switch to Electrum using the sweep function. So, I used the dumprivkey in Core's console and entered it in the Electrum Sweep tab, entered the amount I'd like to transfer, and it has been pending for more than 20 hours now. I also clicked the dynamic fee tab, so I am just wondering how long does sweeping usually take? and am i doing everything correctly?

Any help is very much appreciated!

everything is correct apart from the amount of fee you paid.
either post the transaction id here so we can see and give a sure answer, or if you want to keep your privacy then use a block explorer like this:
blockchain.info/tx/{put your tx id here} and look at the field saying "Fee per byte" and if it is lower than 270-300 then that is your problem.

you can read this topic for things you can do: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1802212.0
and feel free to ask here any additional question you have.

If transaction is stuck go to https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ and enter the transaction id to get your btc. They allow up to 100 transactions per hour to be entered at no cost. I have used them. Be there on the turn of the hour so you don't miss your turn.

I assume you are running the latest version of Electrum right? The Dynamic Fees options should usually put accurate sized fees for quick confirms. You can adjust the slider more to the right for faster confirms. I usually use all the way to the right when I don't want to wait on a confirmation but it will increase the fee size.
