We are all talking about the difference between high and low demographic rate in different countries. Having a huge demography has its ups and down but even with a high population if not all are productive and not disciplined the state will crumble. The country with a low population will also have its advantages since if the majority of the population are older people. Sometimes birth control will kill a country.

It can't be denied that population explosion is one of the biggest threats facing the human race all around the world. Many of the countries around the world are over-populated. For example, the population density in the non-desert part of Egypt is more than 1,000 people per square kilometer (and that is growing at a rate of 3% per year). I don't want to kill anyone, but this growth can't go on like this.

There's the problem.

Some band of merry idiots 50 years ago were sitting in their offices, deciding which politicians to have lunch with, when they decided they had to produce "big" concepts and solutions, since they were so important.

They looked at the population of China vs other countries, factored in political considerations, and the youngest and stupidest among them said "why don't we convince China to limit their families to one child per".

They called their friends in government "Hey, brunch this afternoon, don't forget. And by the way, do you think we could convince the Chinese to limit their children? It would solve overcrowding and starvation preemptively. I want to do a Master's thesis on it. Can you research if it would be a good idea?"

It was not just the black death. When the Americas were discovered, a lot of the Europeans immigrated to those continents. It is estimated that Portugal lost almost three-fourths of their population due to this emigration. Italy is another nation which underwent demographic bleeding.

It's much easier in my opinion. You need to toughen conditions of reception of immigrants. If the country is overpopulated then people will try to travel to other countries and this can be a problem for those countries. If you go anywhere that people will stop having kids because there will be nothing to feed them and will not work. The one-child policy is population reduction and we see such examples in India and China.
