I recently got my wallet up and running online with the entire blockchain downloaded. I sent 0.0099 BTC to the wallet and successfully can view this in my main wallet.

However, upon sending more BTC to this wallet a month after the first attempt was successful it has yet to show up. I can see that the transaction was successful using this address:

https://btc.blockr.io/tx/info/bbfe79162a8bfc9286a1fb9a9fd4152e41633b846e1a653a9739459360dfbc64

but it is not being displayed on my Armory wallet?

Since I have downloaded the block chain and Armory has caught up with my first transaction it doesn’t seem to download the block chain past my initial transaction on start-up, is there a reason for this?

My Armory does seem to be 1000 blocks behind, I am currently on block 475166.

Best wishes,

Matthew

Transaction confirmed on Block chain but not in regenerated wallet.

Something similar happened to me.

My transaction was in June 2017 from Coinbase (although  that probably is incidental)

The transaction is on the Blockchain confirmed 6 times (unspent)

I believe my issue was caused by making a transaction while not have the complete DB on HD. (newbee stuff)
Turned out I had overlooked a HD capacity problem.

Since regenerated the Wallet.

But Wallet has not registered / remembered the address used for the transaction. Recanning does not generate the transaction in question.

How do I manually input the address (if that is what is needed) ?
I have the Block number, script pub key ,script sig etc but no idea how to pull the transaction home to the wallet.

Any ideas ?

The reason your Armory wouldn't show it is because the transaction was in Block 476251
Included In Blocks 476251 ( 2017-07-17 18:07:59 + 6 minutes )
Is your Bitcoin Core running and syncing correctly? It sounds like it isn't synced... without Core being synced... you won't see any new transactions...

What do you mean by you "regenerated" the wallet? Did you restore the wallet from the paper backup you made when you first created the wallet? Or did you just make a new wallet? Huh

If you are not seeing the same addresses being generated in your wallet, chances are you have not restored your backup correctly, and are effectively just working with a brand new wallet and brand new addresses Undecided

Sorry I meant restored, Yes you are correct I restored from from the paper wallet.
The wallet has correct Wallet ID.

I have checked the my core  client , it is upto date

I have rescanned the wallet balance (still zero) and Databases.

Wallet currently displaying connected (409214 blocks)

I  expected the wallet to log the used transaction  address in Wallet properties.
The transaction was made Late June 2017

The wallet appears not to have the logged the receive address generated originally at the time of the transaction.

I assumed I could treat it as an offline transaction, perhaps input the "forgotten" address or somehow verify the transaction address (as recorded on the block chain and my coinbase acc.) with the wallet database which in turn would verify the transaction with the blockchain.

I hope ppl find this is an interesting problem (and not entirely a newbie fumble) and it would be helpful to be able extract my bitcoin from the chain.

Any thoughts ?

I hope you typed that number in wrong... Block #409214 was from 2016-04-28 03:09:46!!?!  Shocked

current block height is: 477258. Seems like the Armory DB hasn't actually connected to, and/or processed all the blocks from, your Core Client... have you checked the log files, specifically dbLog.txt?

It's worth noting that Armory has two requirements from Bitcoind -- it needs network access to your Bitcoin node, and it needs direct disk access to the contents of the data/blocks directory.

---- The below specifically applies to UNIX-like systems, though the theory should apply to Windows as well ----

Check the permissions and ownership of data/blocks and it's content files -- I had a situation where Armory could not access newer blocks because bitcoind runs as a different user than Armory in my setup, and bitcoind was creating the new files with rw-------.

Bitcoin Core has a bitcoin.conf option, sysperms=1, that makes the program generate new files in data/blocks/ as per the permissions on data/blocks, rather than hardcoding as 0600.

Thank you so much for taking the time on this, very helpful.
And also the problem is solved. I now have  the TX address and a wallet balance !

Displayed number now 477605 (ie up to date)

Just for the record:

1. There was a problem syncing the the DB and Blockchain but not sure why.
2. Amory was stalling in the process, despite several re installs.
3. Decided to go for a clean install. Deleted Amory (or at least that is what I thought I was doing, using windows uninstall)
3.  Searched %APPDATA%\Bitcoin  (Running windows 10)
4. Found I had Bitcoin and Bitcoin testnet DB
5. I deleted both
6. Re-installed Amory - something strange happened here (It was late, been a long week, have no notes unfortunately, perhaps I forgot to restart PC ?) I was surprised to see re installed Amory already contained the restored Wallet .
Was not given option to download Bitcoin Core from Amory interface. The Dash board was blank except for two empty boxes
7. Downloaded BitcoinCore from https://bitcoin.org/en/download
8. Spent 3 days downloading the Bitcoin Core ( I can only imagine how much fun this would be with a 8mb blocksize Smiley)
9. Restarted Amory prompted to allow Amory to run Bitcoin core
10. The "lost" tx and balance now appearing in wallet
11. and  connected 477601 blocks (ie up to date)

All the best

You'll probably find that when you uninstalled it, Windows only removed the actual program installation directory in the "program files" directory (ie. C:\Program Files (x86)\Armory)... however the data (including wallet files) is all stored in the "%AppData%\Armory" directory... Windows is actually pretty terrible and uninstalling things properly Undecided

So, when you reinstalled and ran Armory, all the existing data would still have been there and that is why it all showed up automagically Smiley

Glad you managed to get it all sorted tho...  Cool

That is very intentional.  Uninstalling and reinstalling Armory should not delete your wallet, since that would cause you to lose all your bitcoins.  The wallets are preserved when Armory is uninstalled, and they are automatically found again by the newly installed Armory.  I really hope all other bitcoin wallets behave the same way.
