and to answer your question no it is not something we need to worry about for ages. because first of all a quantum computer is not something YOU can buy from a computer store or off ebay and do malicious stuff with and cracking the private keys is not as easy as you think it is and a quantum computer is not as efficient as you think it is.

Agreed. Quantum computers are super expensive if the OP didn't know. And there is no Quantum computers than can break into your bitcoin wallet and steal your private keys. Bitcoin technology are so secured that even what you are speculating will not happened in the future.

Technology doesn't jump, quantum computers don't just come into existence out of nowhere. I expect that there will be time to adapt. Bitcoin can and probably will do a hardfork to adjust its cryptography. As will any other cryptography based technology.

Quantum computers are still sci-fi material and it will be probably at least a decade before anything operational appears aside from some proof of concepts machines maybe in some university. When they do appear I think the easiest thing to do will be to simply encrypt new cryptos using quantum computers Problem solved.
