i just signed up last night went to it today and its down is this normal , i was a bit dubious of the site initaily its had about 500 dollar off me will it be back up ?

Yes, they are down.
IMO it's something more serious than ordinary DDoS attack because domain is not even getting IP from DNS.
They maybe even gone.

They were under DDoS and now the domain in on hold by domain registator.

You can't get your answer instantly.
Mercatox is one of the trusted exchange site. I never faced any problem with them. And they are keep updating their users. As you can find on their twitter account mercatox domain is on hold. You can read this here https://twitter.com/MercatoxCom/status/948257495960702976

until now mercatox can not be accessed. lately a lot of exchanges have got attacks like this. if so I am afraid to trade in exchange
