It is always mentioned that for large crypto trading, most likely above 50,000 USD, they won't happen in the exchanges, but rather go Over-The-Counter (OTC)
But for many crypto investors, or even myself, we may not have a very clear understanding for why we need go OTC for large amount of trading, but not exchanges.

So I search and find this video on youtube which I think it gives us a quite clear understanding on the whole story and thus would like to share with all of you.
Please correct me and let me know if everything is wrong from the video and will you suggest people go OTC if someone is going to trade for over 100K USD in crypto.

it depends on the exchange.
I think OTC is worht it, if it is over 1million USD , if you are trading at bitfinex or Kraken.com (if kraken works again, right now it does not work well)

If you want to sell 100 BTC, you could just do it on 2-3 exchanges, withdrawing the max limit per day and you could have it out in a couple of weeks or so.  If you can find a good way to do it OTC, that's fine too but exchanges are OK for this purpose.

Withdrawing on GDAX for example you can do $10k per day (and apply for higher limits if you want) - and your USD balances are insured up to $250,000.  You could withdraw on Bitstamp or Kraken and do a bit of LocalBitcoins as well.  Frankly it shouldn't be that hard as long as you consider a couple weeks of your time to be worth less than $400,000.

You'd have to be extremely careful about declaring your taxes and the sources of your funds though.  You don't want the taxman knocking on your door and annoying you later.

This video has explained about why you should go to OTC instead of some exchanges to sell 100btc.
There will be a gap between the price on buy/sell orders on exchanges and the price which offered to you on OTC, but it will be fine as your orders won't affect the market significantly as there is no big amount has been sold inside the market of exchanges.
Here for you who don't want to watch the video.
There's people with million of dollars
and institutions with million of dollars
but what we usually suggest is anybody who wants to purchase an instant orders or want to sell an instant orders of $50K, $100K or greater go to an over-the-counter desk.

--- So, you only have to use over-the-counter desk when you don't want to impact the market, because your position is large enough. ---

Hi, thanks for your explanation. So for how much we should define as "large enough"?
How much will be said as impacting the market?
Because I have a group of people and we are considering selling together as a pool or selling individually.

You will not 'crash the market' with selling 100 btc at one go. Its okey to use exchanges, doesn't *have to* be through OTC exchanges. This is 2017  Cool
